Our Approach
Every project begins with people, not plans. We believe that good architecture grows from careful listening, clear communication and a shared understanding of what success looks like for you.
No two projects, or clients, are the same. Therefore, we tailor our service to suit your needs, ambitions, and level of involvement. Some clients enjoy being closely involved at every step, while others prefer to be guided through the process with confidence and clarity. Our role is to support both.
We start each project with a collaborative workshop, allowing us to understand your brief, priorities, budget and programme from the outset. This early alignment is essential to creating a well-considered design and avoiding surprises later on.
From here, we guide the project through each RIBA work stage, presenting and reviewing the evolving design together so decisions are made at the right time and with the right information.
As a small practice, our studio only takes on a limited number of projects each year.
This allows us to give each project our full attention and maintain a genuinely hands-on approach from first sketch to completion. Through construction, we remain closely involved with site visits, coordination with relevant contractors and consultants, and ensuring that the built result reflects the original design intent.
We understand that a building project is often one of the most significant investments our clients will make. Our approach balances design ambition with practical considerations, including cost awareness and technical coordination, informed by our experience across a range of project types.
Fees & Transparency
Clarity around fees and construction costs is fundamental to a successful project. We aim to be open and transparent from the outset, offering a service that is proportionate to the scale, complexity and ambition of your project.
How are fees structured?
For a full architectural service from initial concept through to completion on site, our fees are typically calculated as a percentage of the construction cost. This percentage reflects the scope of work involved, the complexity of the project and site location.
Projects with smaller budgets or within existing buildings tend to sit at the higher end of this range, while larger new-build projects are typically at the lower end.
We work on projects of many sizes and believe that strong design thinking is not defined by budget alone.
Feasibility Studies
For many clients, the best place to start is with a standalone feasibility study. This is a low-commitment first step that allows us to explore ideas, constraints and opportunities before progressing to a full appointment.
At this stage, we help refine the brief and typically present a number of design options, alongside indicative costs and outline timescales. This process ensures that the project feels right before moving forward - both creatively and financially.
Feasibility studies are typically priced from £1,500 ex VAT, depending on scope and complexity.
Long-term value
Thoughtful architectural input often delivers value well beyond the cost of our fees, whether through improved spatial quality, increased property value, or efficiencies gained through careful technical design and coordination. Our aim is always to maximise both the quality and longevity of what you build.
